El Beaterio es Reconocimientos y Distinciones

Historic hotels in Santo Domingo | June 5, 2014

El Beaterio is an 11-room hotel in a 16th-century former convent. As one might expect, there’s a hushed, homey atmosphere at El Beaterio, which has been carefully restored over the years. There are plenty of historic details, including original stone walls and tile floors, as well as antique musical instruments adorning the walls. Don’t miss the rooftop terrace bar, which boasts great views looking out over the Colonial Zone and Parque Duarte. El Beaterio is a good match for those favoring an elegant and homey atmosphere at very reasonable rates.

Hotel El Beaterio: The Coolest Place to Stay in Santo Domingo | May 9, 2014

Throughout my stay, I encountered helpful, informative staff who were genuinely excited to have me and their other guests at El Beaterio. It’s so nice to feel that sense of pride people have for the place they work when they truly enjoy it.

Handsomely decorated with cast iron furniture in a “minimalist style that evokes the austere elegance of the era,” the rooms are sophisticated and exude old world charm in sync with the rest of the hotel. High ceilings, exposed wood beams, candlesticks and intricately tiled bathrooms add to the colonial ambiance.

Staying at The Amazing El Beaterio Hotel in Santo Domingo | APRIL 1, 2014

I started my week long trip in Santo Domingo and ended it there, and lucky me, the fantastic El Beaterio Hotel generously offered me a room for my last night in The DR. I normally would just make a brief mention of where I stay, but El Beaterio was a fantastic little bed & breakfast.

The staff is extremely friendly, bilingual, and the second you walk in from the street into the hotel, you’ll feel instantly relaxed. The inviting entry room, complete with antique instruments adorning the walls to the vintage furniture offer a unique touch. Continue on past the front desk into the verdant courtyard, which boasts lush tropical vegetation and nice decor.

The bedrooms surround the courtyard on two floors and are all updated with plenty of electrical outlets, AC, fans, modern bathrooms, comfortable beds and fast Wi-Fi (where most hotels fail normally).

I slept great and the breakfast they offered, while nothing over the top, filled my belly with some protein and nice Dominican coffee. The prices are very reasonable given the quality of the rooms and start at $75 a night. The location couldn’t be better in the heart of the Zona Colonial for setting out to explore the neighborhood or spending a night before heading out for other destinations in the country. Here are some pics of the hotel.
